While at Sampler Publications, Peg was the executive editor for their custom publishing and craft magazine groups. One of the publications that she directed was Cross Stitch Sampler. This magazine provided advanced cross-stitch designs and patterns. But it also informed the reader by including background information about early samplers. It was here that Peg began learning about the rich history of women's lives hidden in the stitches. These historical samplers and the memories they stirred would later influence the writing of her book, A Country Sampler of Simple Blessings."

"Part of the romance of vintage needlework samplers is that they provide a peak into the past and the lives of the women who made them," says Peg.
